The foundation of ADEC Private Equity is built on its knowledge of the private equity market, with Burke tracing his roots to an early pioneer of the private equity industry in Wesray Capital. With this 40+ year understanding of private equity market dynamics, ADEC Private Equity is comfortable allocating the majority of its assets to third party sponsored private equity fund commitments. ADEC Private Equity is differentiated from most family offices in its breadth of private equity investment experience in funds of various stages, strategies and industries, allowing private equity managers to use ADEC as a potential advisory tool.

Due Diligence Process
​
As a family office with governance controlled by two individuals, ADEC Private Equity can be nimble in the due diligence process, eliminating lengthy bureaucratic committee processes and allowing private equity managers to focus their time on investment-related decisions rather than arduous and repitive investor correspondence.
Investment Criteria
​
ADEC Private Equity seeks to make commitments to private equity firms that have a clear and distinctive competitive advantage that generate superior returns. For example, a healthcare growth capital firm with the resources and expertise to find and due diligence complex healthcare products or services with outstanding market potential.
Criteria include, but are not limited to:​

Sector-specific expertise; no generalists

Preference towards growth capital; no venture capital

Micro cap to mid cap; no large cap

Based in the United States

Quantitatively, the private equity investment would be expected to achieve most, if not all, of the following return related hurdles:

25%+ annual net IRR

Rapid investment of capital (e.g. ~80% within first 3-years with distributions equaling or exceeding called capital within 4-years)
